On Monday, August 17th, the Brookhaven Town Planning Board held a hearing related to the Ronkonkoma Hub project. The hearing was regarding Phase 1 of the project: “Demolition of all existing structures and construction of 489 rental units consisting of 9 studios, 238 one-bedroom, 227 two-bedroom and 15 three-bedroom units consistent with the Town Board adopted Form Based code, and SEQRA Findings of June 24, 2014. Applicant is Master Developer of Ronkonkoma Hub. Plans also show proposed infrastructure and proposed County sewage pump station. Application also includes request for Planning Board covenant relief.”

LRCO Vice President Dawn Hopkins attended the hearing and spoke in favor of the proposal. She discussed the civic’s involvement in the project since 2007 as well as the community’s involvement in the planning phases. She also discussed the reasons that Tritec was selected as the master developer of the Ronkonkoma Hub project. There were four speakers in attendance that supported the application and one opposed. A decision from the Planning Board is expected at the September 21st Planning Board meeting.
