Civic Welcomes New Bakery on Hawkins Avenue
Sep 02, 2013 Filed in: General Announcements
When the Civic conducted the visioning for Portion Road one of the things high on the priority list was the return of old-fashioned mom and pop stores to our town.
The Lake Ronkonkoma Civic is pleased to welcome a wonderful new bakery, S & D Pastry. Owned by Sam and Donna Rossomano, all items are made on the premises. And what delicious creations the items are! Located at 459 Hawkins Avenue (next to Bruno’s), you can park in front or use the alley and park in back. Looking for homemade bread, a variety that includes rye seeded or plain and onion---and sliced when you order on a slicer just as many of us remember from bakeries years ago---, or flakey breakfast pastries, tempting desserts (glutton-free or not, if you love chocolate, you have to try their glutton-free melt-in-your-mouth cake slices!), cookies (don’t miss their creation—sesame lace), or a variety of decorative and tasty cakes, this store is not to be missed. Sam has had extensive training and experience as a baker, interning and then working at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. And he now brings his excellent skills with him to their store so we too have the treat of his talents, all at reasonable prices, too. The store is closed Monday and Tuesday for the summer. Stop in, try their tempting creations, and welcome them to our neighborhood. We are glad they are on board, a part of our vision.
